Artist’s Statement

Working in wood gives Jane’s creative side an outlet in which she can artistically experiment using the spontaneous aspect of her personality. She initially began working in wood by studying furniture design and construction. She spent 5 years building everything from cabinets, dining room tables and chairs to jewelry boxes and dog furniture while enjoying every minute of it. Then she discovered woodturning. It is the perfect medium to blend her interest in discovering the grain, color and texture of a piece of wood while creating objects that are both useful and tactile. The majority of her turned pieces are made from “found wood” which would otherwise have been destined for the landfill or fireplace. When she does purchase wood, she only uses wood that is easily sustainable.

Price Range $34 - $88
