Artist’s Statement
Emily's intention is to nourish body and soul. She takes ordinary utilitarian objects and elevates them to the extraordinary. Her work combines useful and sculptural in a way that is so beautiful our lives are brightened as we pour a cup of tea or place flowers in a vase. She successfully implies life, movement and growth in her use of the organic form.

Her aesthetic is inspired by life and the movement of a curling leaf, or sensual interior of a flower. The heart of the design stems from the love of sharing her pieces through presentation of food with family and friends.  Pottery as a vehicle of hospitality.  Emily invites you to create your own rite by sharing your new piece of pottery with your loved ones.

Materials and Techniques
My work starts on the potter’s wheel. I use mid-range porcelain and white stoneware clays. I take the thrown elements from the wheel, piece them together, and add hand built portions; spouts, handles, knobs, spikes, and other embellishments.  The work is oxidation fired to cone 7 after many coats of airbrushed glazes are applied.  My finished work is food safe and can be used in the microwave and dishwasher.

Price Range $28 - $200
